The Cathedral of Faro is a historical building dating back to the 14th century.

In 1577 it became the seat of the Episcopal Diocese of the Algarve, and today it is one of the most important monuments in the Portuguese city of Faro. The Cathedral of Faro’s facade is Gothic. Once inside, what most grabs our attention are the wood sconces in the main hall as well as the great organ that stands tall in the centre of the cathedral. The organ is decorated with golden sconces that are highlighted by the reddish paint that covers the entire instrument. Near the Cathedral is another of the city’s main points of interest: the Cais das Portas do Mar. This location represents the entrance to Faro’s port area and from here you can reach the town’s main beach. This area of the city is often frequented by young people and tourists since, in addition to the beach, it is also full of bars and modern restaurants that are perfect for having a fun night out in Faro. One of the tourist activities that you definitely shouldn’t miss is a boat trip along the coast of Faro, as well as a visit to the Viva do Algarve Science Centre, located on Rua Cmte. Francisco Manuel Street. For a nice relaxing visit to this city, you can use the public transport that will take you to the more central areas. However, you can also get around Faro with your own car or vehicle. In this case, keep in mind that there is a Saba car park on Largo Combatentes da Grande Guerra Street, where you can park your car at any time of day.
