In Vila Franca de Xira, a municipality located in the central area of the district of Lisbon, you can find the Vila Franca de Xira Hospital.

This important health centre was opened in 1951, although it has grown over the years with the construction of new modern facilities. The Vila Franca de Xira Hospital is partly a historic building as it was built on the grounds of Santa Clara de Misericórdia. The state and the José de Mello Saúde Group have shared the management of the centre’s services since 2011. The Vila Franca de Xira Hospital is located in the northern part of the city.
